Spring Term 2022 Newsletter

Well done to everyone for a fantastic term’s work! We are very proud of your progress and so pleased that parents and families were able to view the final week of classes.

We are delighted to be joining forces next term with Brighton and Hove Dance Academy (BHDA). All their classes will be incorporated under Alta Academy of Dance and the timetables will be fully merged by Autumn 2022. In the Summer Term existing BHDA classes will remain in the same slots with the same teachers thereby offering a smooth transition.

Student Updates and Successes

We are beyond proud of our students’ achievements this term which has been the result of weeks and months of hard work. Following preliminary and final audition rounds, our students have been offered full time places at prestigious vocational schools as well as offers for intensive courses. Congratulations to you all!

Izzy has been offered a full time place for Year 12 at Central School of Ballet on their Foundation Degree Course. Izzy was also offered a place at Tring Park School for the Performing Arts for their 6th form Dance Course.

Izzy was awarded a highly sought after place to attend English National Ballet School’s Spring Intensive.

Scout has been offered a full time place at Rambert School on their Foundation Degree Programme from September 2022. She has also been offered a full time place at Northern Contemporary School of Dance and still has final auditions pending in Europe.

Bebel has been offered a full time place at Tring Park School for the Performing Arts on the 6th form Dance Course. She has also been awarded a place at YBS Summer Intensive.

Marcus has been offered a coveted place on the Royal Ballet School Summer Intensive course at White Lodge. He is currently a Royal Ballet Junior Associate.

Marcus was also invited to attend final auditions for The Royal Ballet School earlier this term.

Matilda was offered a full time place at Tring Park School for the Performing Arts on the Junior Dance Course.

Lois has been offered a place on Ballet Boost’s Summer Intensive which will be held in London.

Zak is through to final auditions for National Youth Ballet’s Residential Performance Company 2022.

Royal Academy of Dance Exams

Exams took place towards the end of term both in Brighton and also at the new RAD HQ in London. From our youngest students taking their first Class Award at Pre-Primary level to one student finishing her final RAD Grade - Grade 8! Well done eveyone on your achievements.

Results From Last RAD Exams

Congratulations to all who took exams in the Autumn Term both at the RAD HQ and in our Brighton Studio. Stunning results with 64% distinctions and 36% merits!

NEW Jazz Classes Next Term!

We are planning to launch Open Jazz / MT classes next term on Wednesdays at the Octagon Dance Studio - Junior and Senior levels.

Progressing Ballet Technique Classes

Our PBT classes are proving to be very effective. PBT is a wonderful supplement to dance training. It not only develops greater strength but also an understanding how to activate different muscle groups.

In order for PBT to be as effective as possible, regular practice is encouraged between lessons.

Alta Jackets and Uniform Orders

We will be placing another order for our popular jackets in the next week. The lead time for production is 6-8 weeks. Please get in touch as soon as possible if you would like to order one.

Please get in touch if you require any other uniform items ahead of the start of term.

Summer Term 2022

The website has now been updated with the Summer 2022 timetable and this will also be sent via email with your Summer Term invoice. We are planning a summer show in the final week of term. More details to follow soon.

As well as after school and evening classes, we also run daytime ADULT CLASSES on a drop in or block booking basis. Please click here to find out more or contact us on info@altadance.co.uk. We may consider adding an evening adult class if there is sufficient demand.
