Lots of focus on character this half term, establishing the technique and essence of different styles. Character Dancing is the theatrical presentation of national and folk dance and is seen in ballets such as Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, Coppelia.
Lots of focus on character this half term, establishing the technique and essence of different styles. Character Dancing is the theatrical presentation of national and folk dance and is seen in ballets such as Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, Coppelia. Character work in ballet benefits dancers by improving musicality, rhythm, mime, coordination and posture as well as giving them cultural and historical knowledge. It teaches valuable partnering skills which is a vital preparation for future pas de deux work. The Royal Academy of Dance introduces character dancing in Grade 1 and students are always very excited to get their character skirt and shoes. 😊 Each Grade focusses on a different country and style and is a wonderful way to enrich a child’s knowledge of the world. There is free onsite parking (a rarity in Brighton and Hove!) and the location is served by many bus routes. This class is in addition to our current adult intermediate class and will be suitable for beginners, those who danced as a child and would like to restart as well as those who wish to improve their technique.
